Why John Cena Should Win at WWE SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam is only a few days away and I think it’s fair to say the most anticipated match would be Roman Reigns vs John Cena for the WWE Universal Title. Roman has been near unstoppable since getting the title, especially thanks to the Uso’s.
If Cena does win at SummerSlam, this will make history as he will become the first 17 time world champion. Currently he’s tied with Ric Flair, who coincidently just left WWE and is allegedly heading to AEW. I for won would love to see Cena win and here’s 3 reasons why.
Cena Deserves It
John Cena has been around for more than a decade and really made a name for himself in the squared circle. He was the face of the company for a long time and had to deal with a lot of unwarranted (in my opinion) hate from fans.
I personally found his matches entertaining and although he didn’t have a huge move set, I never felt like it was something that bothered me or made his matches seem slow/boring.
Over his time in WWE, John Cena has granted 650 wishes which was covered by Sportskeeda in July of 2021 who found that Cena was even doing wishes during the Covid period. Even in the video below from Twitter he was kind enough to interreact with this child after a show which is honestly so nice to watch.
We all hear how grueling the WWE road schedule is and I’m sure filming movies isn’t that much easier yet he still always makes time to grant wishes which is highly commendable.
Since the start of the Summer of Cena, he’s also been wrestling dark matches and house shows which you don’t usually see part timers doing which shows his dedication to the business.
He might be more over now than ever
Sometimes you don’t truly appreciate something until it’s gone and I think this is the case with Cena. He always had is base of fans that loved him no matter what but it seems since coming back, that amount grew a ton. I loved this promo he cut after Money in the Bank 2021.
In fact since his return, I’ve hardly heard the “John Cena Sucks” chants to his entrance like we used to. Of course it could be WWE feeding in audio but from what I’ve seen from people on Twitter who attending live, the crowd always goes crazy for him. Cena has said he’d stick around longer if he does win, fans love having him here and if WWE is making enough money from him being around, I’m sure they can make something work for the short term.
The Perfect chance to make a new star
If John Cena does need to go back to Hollywood pretty soon after SummerSlam, there is an easy way to get the title off him which is having Big E cash in on him. Many superstars have made their name by cashing in on someone big so imagine if Big E was to cash in on Cena.
A good way to spin the story would be to have Cena beat Reigns and the massive celebration after. The next SmackDown, Reigns can challenge Cena for a rematch and right before the end, have Big E come out to do a successful cash in. Having him get the title at SummerSlam would be nicer since there will be a much larger crowd, but it would also be nice to see Cena get a proper celebration.
Regardless of what happens we only have to wait less than 24 hours to find out if John Cena will make history or not.
