That Time of Year

If time didn’t already go fast enough, it’s already Christmas again.

Now that I’m much older, it doesn’t have the same feeling as when I was a kid. When you’re younger, the build up to Christmas is so exciting to have that day where you have a special meal and get to open presents which make you really feel the Christmas spirit.

As a kid, my Mom and I would always go driving around suburbs near us to look at all the houses that had put up Christmas decorations. This is probably one of my fondest memories and something I hope to do when I have kids if people still put them up by then.

These days as an adult, I enjoy the fact I often get the day off work but the actual celebrations don’t quite feel the same. As a kid my Mom would often say that for her, Christmas wasn’t the same as when she was a kid (she had a more traditional Polish Christmas) since her parents had passed and I never quite understood it until I got older.

Maybe once I have kids myself then I can enjoy the holidays more again thanks to their excitement but I’m sure there will always be that part that just doesn’t feel the same.

Regardless, to anyone who reads this I hope you have a happy holiday’s and happy new year!
