My Main Pick to Win the Men’s WWE Money in the Bank Briefcase for 2023

We are less than a week away from 2023’s Money in the Bank match and everyone is speculating who’ll they see win.

Despite the very vocal online LA Knight fan base making it seem like he’s the only legitimate option, there’s someone else that makes much more sense to win. Here are 3 reasons why I think Damian Priest will win the MITB briefcase.

He’s Paid His Dues

Often in wrestling we always read about someone “paying their dues” which pretty much means earning something through hard work which Priest has certainly done.

Since his call up during the 2021 Royal Rumble, Priest has been booked pretty well and put his fair share of talent over too. There was a period before joining Judgement Day that he beat not only Sheamus but also Drew McIntyre who was barely pinned at the time. After joining a Judgement Day though it feel like his role has changed.

Personally, I’d give Priest at least some credit for helping make Dom the heel he is today and also being a reliable star on Raw. The fact they trusted him to carry the match with Bad Bunny at Backlash 2023 shows they have faith in him and know he’s earned his place at the top of the card.

A Rich Story to Tell

Recently we’ve seen a different side of Finn Balor, someone more ruthless and willing to do anything to get back to a point in his career he feels he’s owed. What does this have to do with Priest? Well everything.

We’ve seen tension teased between the two and Finn even asked Priest if he was to win MITB and Finn got the World Heavyweight Championship, would Priest cash in on him which he denied.

Power can make people act different though so if Priest has MITB we have the possibility of him getting the title that Finn wants so badly before he can get it, or even stealing it from him right after he wins it.

Priest has also been a bit less heelish in his actions recently, wanting to earn his MITB without help from anyone. Now that Roman is vulnerable and doesn’t have the Uso’s there to ensure he retains his title, we could even see Priest cash in on the Tribal Chief, moving to SmackDown and being a babyface champ.

Plenty of Backup

Since there’s no disqualification in these types of matches we had interferences in previous years like when Jinder, Veer and Shanki cost Drew MITB in 2021.

When you look at the other competitors in the match, no one has a stable backing them to the same level that Judgement Day does. The Brutes may help defend Butch and LWO may help Santos, but they wouldn’t straight up cheap like a heel faction would.

Even if these factions cancel each other out, Priest is arguably the largest and most dominant competitor in the match so while JD keep other busy, he could be reaching for that briefcase.

What could go wrong?

Most years we have 8 competitors in this match aside from last year which had 7 until Theory came out to join the match last minute and won.

This is an angle I could see them doing again and to me, Drew McIntyre would be the best option for this. He’s been missing since Mania and needs a big return which this would fit the bill.

In these types of matches you have people cancel each other out too. You could see Ricochet costing Logan Paul or the latter costing LAK. In recent weeks we’ve even seen LAK having a mini feud with Rey/Santos so the latter could also cost LAK, setting up a match for SummerSlam.

Either way there are a lot of possibilities for this match and I’ll be excited to see the outcome.
